- Communications Services Transition Project
Hamilton Shaw Consulting was engaged by BHP Billiton to provide commercial support on the transition of communications services to its chosen outsourced provider.
This involved:
- Preparing a contract summary outlining major points of agreement for communication to global IT community
- Assisting in the contractual aspects in the take-up of services for all business groups
- Managing all aspects of the pricing and invoicing of the contract during the transition including:
- Preparing a gap analysis of invoicing requirements between old and new contract
- Working with the outsourced provider to implement changes to invoice structure and design per the requirements of the new contract. This also involved an audit to ensure compliance
- Preparing financial models enabling allocation of enterprise service costs to business groups and monitoring and reviewing these models as required
- Establishing a working group to review Allocation Model methodology and principles with a view to refining models for future years under the contract
- Preparing and communicating preliminary and final budget advice to all business groups and sites and to the outsourced provider for invoicing purposes.
- Providing commercial advice on the transitioning of services from old provider to new outsourced provider and monitoring/mitigating any issues
- Monitoring project budget and preparation of accruals.
The work performed was critical in ensuring the business was fully informed of the cost of the new services under the agreement.
